You thought that it’s only Caucasians who have blonde hair? Well you got it all wrong. The Melanesian people from Solomon Island also have blonde hair.
With an exception of the Melanesians, blonde hair is only found among people of European ancestry. Although the Melanesians are typically African physically they are believed to be closely related to the Aborigine family, anthropologists say that these two groups of people most likely separated some 10,000 years ago. Scientists claim that the blond hair in Melanesian people is caused by the inherited TYRP1 gene pigmentation. The TYR family of genes is also responsible for albinism. The Aborigines live in Australia and they are believed to be the indigenous people of the smallest continent in the world. Both the Aborigines and Melanesians are closely related to the early man.
According to research by various anthropologists the Melanesians, Papuan people and Australian Aborigines are the only modern humans whose pre-historic ancestors interbred with the ancient human species Denisova Hominin and they probably share almost 6% of their genes. They have also described Melanesians as a distinct racial group related to the Australian and Neptunian races.
Melanesians speak several languages which can be broadly divided into Austronesian and Papuan Language. These languages can be divided into Tok Pisin, Hiri Motu, Solomon Islands Pijin, Bislama, and Papuan Malay among other dialects.
Melanesia is a region in Oceania which is surrounded by the Pacific Ocean. Other countries that are also in this region include Vanuatu, Fiji and Papua New Guinea. There are also several small islands in this region which include Amphlett Islands, Maluku Islands, Norfolk Islands, Raja Ampat Islands, Rotuma, Schouten Islands, Torres Strait Islands, Troboriand Islands and Woodlark Islands among others.
