Ngololo from Tanzania meets Skelewu from Nigeria in this new video by Tanzanian Diamond and Nigerian Davido. This fresh and entertaining video features a lot of dancing from professional dancers as opposed to the original version of “My Number One” which was shot on location in South Africa. Although the video was shot in a single neutral location, the use of color has been used extensively to symbolize the different parts of the video. The first part is Davido’s which is predominantly white and everyone in the set including the musicians is in white. Here he sings in English although at the end, he adds some phrases in Kiswahili… “tule ugali wa mhogo”…In the second part the set design features predominantly the color black as Diamond sings verse two of “My Number One” remix. During the climax, when Diamond and Davido sing together in turns, there’s a splash of color. Generally the video and audio is of good quality and I am sure it will be enjoyed across Africa and probably by the rest of the world because of the different cultures it symbolizes. Enough said check out the video below and judge for yourself.

KEKO: SEE YA

Ugandan musician Keko was signed to Sony Music Entertainment last year and her first video which has been released recently will certainly give most East African musician a run for their money. Although the audio is quite unexpected from Keko, the video is of international quality. Set on an empty railway station, the set design is unique and artistic. The use of water, oil and paint has been utilized quite a lot perhaps to bring out rebirth not only in her music but also in her personality. Keko’s black skirt and black top outfit is perhaps an aspect of the rebirth symbolized by the title of the song as never before has she dressed in such a formal outfit in a video shoot. They say change is inevitable and I wonder if her East African audience who have been used to her rapping will welcome this new aspect to her music. It’s a new year and maybe they will not have a problem in accepting it, have a look at it below and be the judge of it. Check it out!
